Philip Reeve Likes Firestorm!

How cool is that? My favourite writer of books for the YA market enjoyed one of mine! Brilliant! I shall buy him a beer when I eventually meet him. This was the quote he provided:

“A soaring adventure which does everything you expect from a dragon story and adds in a few surprising twists of it’s own.”

I’m also hoping he will write a review on his blog soon. Can’t wait!

Coming to Germany in June 2010

All four Darkweaver Legacy books will launch in Germany in July 2010 (according to Amazon.de) and here are the Random House Germany Covers:

Also, there is the possibility that the first of my new series The Devil’s Triangle might launch towards the end of 2010, though I suspect it is more likely to launch in early 2011.

Recent Releases

Most recently, Loeil du Dragon - Vulcain (Firestorm) was released in France in August, and Souffle D’Ombre (Shadow) in November. I love the covers that Pocket Jeunesse have used:

Die Gilde von Shandar: Der Verrater (Imperial Assassin) released January. Der Jager (Imperial Traitor) also launched on 1 March. I see some kind German readers have already posted five star reviews of both Imperial Spy and Imperial Assassin. Let’s hope lots of other readers feel them worthy of five stars over the coming months.

Pocket Jeunesse have also released L’espionne impĂ©riale (Imperial Spy). I seem to be having a bonanza of launches this year! Dragon Orb: Shadow in January in the UK, along with Imperial Assassin in Germany. Imperial Spy in France this month. Imperial Traitor in Germany next month and Dragon Orb: Longfang in the UK in April. I’ve now got my fingers crossed that all these editions do well.

I look forwards to receiving my author copies of all the new books - it’s always exciting to get books through the post!

Great Reviews of Firestorm by other Authors!

Multi-award winning author, Sarah Singleton

“Tightly-plotted, full of action and adventure, Mark Robson’s Firestorm is a thrilling read with three engaging young heroes. I particularly enjoyed the incursion of the dragons and their riders into the ‘real’ world and their meeting with the World War I pilots - a deft and original touch in a fantasy story - and best of all, for me, the evocative descriptions of the terrors and delights of flying.”

Sam Enthoven - Author of The Black Tattoo and Tim: Defender of the Earth.

Firestorm is AWESOME! Fast, fresh and enormous fun.

Chris d’Lacey - Author of the Icefire books

‘I found Firestorm very enjoyable and think it will be a great addition to dragon fantasy lore, especially for top juniors. I was particularly impressed with the way Mark handled the fight scene with the hunters. Very gripping. There were also some breathtaking and very convincing descriptions of flight involving the dragons. I envy his military flying background for that!

This has all the elements of good children’s fiction. I think the young readers will latch onto the characters very easily and be looking out for the next book in the series as soon as they’ve finished the first.’
