Inset Training for Teachers
Along with fellow author Ali Sparkes, I co-hosted the first of a series of inset training days for teachers on 31 October 2011. The day was a practical ‘How to’ on running creative writing workshops for Key Stage 2 & 3 pupils, held at the Daventry Barcelo Hotel.
This is what teachers said about the day:
Michelle Watson – The High Arcal School
There was so much information and so many interesting ideas, and all of them applicable to implement with students. And on a personal level it made me want to write more.
Ben Kruze – KS2 Teacher – Warwick School
Very down to earth, friendly and an excellent atmosphere created. Information/sessions suitable for all ages which is refreshing. Lots of tips and ideas that I will share with the English Department and others. Thanks.
P.S. I am a boy and you kept me engaged all day. I need say no more!
Martha Pinsent – Welton Primary
Great ideas. Loved the practical approach. All the ideas could be used in a KS2 classroom. Lots of encouragement for a teacher who does not see herself as a writer.
Lily Allison – Rugby High School
An excellent day for getting teachers re-engaged with writing too! The ideas were brilliant and really helpful for students
Future dates for similar training days are: 16th October 2012 at the Daventry Barcelo Hotel – more dates coming soon.
Both Ali and I have a huge amount of experience, enthusiasm and passion for inspiring young people to read and write. We also have a mass of fun ideas for teachers to draw on. The training offered is a ‘hands on’ series of sessions covering many different methods and tricks for successfully engaging pupils of all ability levels in different aspects of creative writing. Book early to avoid disappointment next year. Places are limited and we run a first come, first served system. For more details and a booking form please use the contact form below:
