Mark’s & Sparkes’ Success!

What a great day we had in the Daventry Barcelo Hotel yesterday! Lots of laughs with a super group of teachers, librarians and literacy coordinators. Ali Sparkes and I led a series of creative writing workshops that were designed to equip teachers with lots of fun ideas to take back into their classrooms. The overwhelming response was that the day was a huge success and everyone went away with big smiles and bulging goodie bags!
Ali had us all in stitches as we did battle with the naked paragraph, subverting song lyrics and doing unspeakable things to well-loved poems. Then it was my turn to cause chaos as we literally tore into magazines in a story generator exercise that was incredibly noisy, messy and fun.
The results, some great collages and lots of ideas.
There was X Factor mayhem after lunch as Ali had us all creating mythical books titles, blurbs and first lines, some of which were pure genius! Then it was my turn again for a bit more hilarity as we looked at creating characters. Looking at some of these guys I didn’t have to do a lot. They were characters in their own right!
A fantastic day filled with lots of laughs and some great learning exercises for everyone. If anyone is interested in joining us for next year’s event, we are taking bookings now. Take a look at the Inset Training for Teachers page.
