Pumping up the Pace.

October is a pretty frantic month all round. Lots of school events, the start of the pre-Christmas book signing season and trying to keep on top of the writing schedule at the same time. It’s all good fun, but it can be exhausting, too. You can see what I’m up to on my news page.
Those who know me will be aware that I don’t like to be idle. The problem comes when trying to decide how much is too much? In recent years I’ve got the balance wrong and come close to burning out by Christmas. In fact, every year for the past few years, I’ve been quite ill at Christmas due to overworking in the three months prior. This year I’m trying to be more sensible about it, but then I say that every year.
Will I keep to a more sensible schedule? I’ll try. But I’m already looking ahead towards next year and my diary is filling fast. The first book of The Devil’s Triangle is progressing well. I’m confident I’ll have the draft finished well before the deadline, which is a nice feeling. But I don’t feel I can truly relax. Maybe one day. But not for the forseeable future.
