A chance meeting today with fellow writer Chris d’Lacey proved a real pleasure. I hoped to cross paths with Chis a couple of times before, but for one reason or another it appeared we were destined to keep missing one another. His renown as a speaker in schools has meant that I’ve seen his picture in many a school library, but it was great to finally meet him in person. Of all the places to catch up with him, my 3 year old’s nursery was not the setting I’d imagined!
He’s clearly far too successful at selling his books (must be the leather jacket - I swear by mine!), as he had very few copies to sell at the summer fete where I met him today. I did secure a copy of the third in his dragon series, Fire Star, so I’m now going to go on a hunt for the first two.
Chris is a true gentleman and we had a super chat. I get the feeling we’ll be seeing one another again in the future. I’m not sure what we might do, but there must be potential for us to do a ‘dragon’ event at some point. I look forwards to reading his books and will be sure to put something about them here on the blog in due course.

Oh wow oh wow. I read his books.. *thinks* long time ago now. I’m dragon insane (probably guessed that by my reaction when you mentioned Dragon orb at the visit to my school!)
Fantastic books. I can only remember the name of the second one… but they are amazing books… *muses on them*

I’m looking forwards to reading them, too, Jessa. I’ve heard lots of good things about them. My reading list just keeps getting longer and longer!

Ah, you caught my good side after all! It was fun meeting you yesterday. And yes, we will try and do an event together sometime. I’ll let you know my thoughts about Firestorm when I’ve read it.

Thanks for dropping by my blog to say hello, Chris. If you want to put a guest blog entry on sometime, I’d be delighted to feature it. I look forwards to hearing what you think of Firestorm and will be in touch about an event at some point. We’d better wait until I have at least Firestorm in print, though, as the dragon link is such a good one it would be a shame to waste it.
