So we lost …

Charles, Linda and I may have lost against the archaeologists in the quiz show, Codex, but I think anyone who saw it would agree that we put up a valiant fight. There were not many incorrect answers throughout the entire competition, and our finishing score of 144 was certainly no disgrace. What killed us was the second round, which just happened to be on mummification … the exact subject that Beth, one of the opposing team, had written her Masters thesis on! One would have thought the show’s researchers might have noticed this little gem when deciding on which artifacts to use for our show. Thank goodness Charles was so fast on the buzzer, and able to steal a respectable number of points from her, or the scoreline could have been a lot different. However, there are no sour grapes. In fact I’m looking forward to visiting Beth’s brownie pack next week in Reading to chat to them about reading and writing. :-)
Our opponents were gracious in victory, as I hope we were in defeat. It was a fun night out in the British Museum. I’d happily go and have a stab at something like that again if given the opportunity.
