Where I write … part 2.

Here’s my office for the afternoon - Middlemore Farm Public House. You can normally find me between 1 and 5pm tapping away on my laptop on Table 7. If for any reason Table 7 is full then Table 34 and Table 22 are my reserve options. Lynne and the staff at Middlemore have all been great about my working there. It is generally quiet in the afternoons. The music is not intrusive and the coffee comes with a nice mint chocolate - anyone who gives me chocolate (even if I’ve paid for it) is OK in my book! Oh, and if anyone is looking for somewhere to go out for a meal in the evening, I would heartily recommend this place for good food at reasonable prices. I’ve brought lots of people here for meals and everyone’s enjoyed it.

This is me, hard at work … well, OK, not so hard at work! I was just in the final stages of the 3rd edit of Dragon Oracle when this was taken, so I was feeling a little jaded.

The view across to the distant bar (all of about 7 paces away) looks like this:

Every now and then, if I’m really in need of inspiration, you might find me with a glass of red wine instead of my usual coffee. It’s rare for me to drink alcohol in the afternoon, but every now and then it’s nice to chill out and relax with a glass of wine as I write.
