Not Quite so Yellow any more …

My yellow streak has been infected with a new colour - green.   I took and passed my Green Tag at Tae Kwon Do last week.  Another grade, another ‘A’ pass.  I’m really beginning to feel I’m getting to grips with this martial art now.  The punches and strikes are getting crisper.  The stances are becoming more definite.  My kicks are improving slowly, though I’m going to have to work hard on my flexibility if I’m ever to reach Black belt standard … one step at a time, though.  I’ve a long way to go yet. The picture shows me in narani chunbi sogi - parallel ready stance.

My knowledge of the Korean terms is improving fast as well.  This is partly because I’ve worked hard on learning the theory for each grading, but also because my good lady wife is still a belt ahead of me (full Green) and I’ve helped her learn the theory for each of her belts as well.  For my next grading I am likely to be required to do some three step sparring (sambo matsoki) which is always good for a laugh!  My new fighting pattern is called Do San, a 24 move sequence which is still a bit of a mystery at the moment, though there don’t seem to be too many new moves in it.  I hope to grade again in the Autumn, which will mean I am still on course to Black in the minimun time span of 3 years.  Watch this space!

  1. Awesome, you can be a fearsome fighting machine and punch through walls when the book is getting you stressed :p

  2. Congratulations!! Now get back to work. Just kidding! You haven’t updated on Codex yet, am I too early or have you just been too busy to do so?

  3. LOL! Yes, Joel, and it’ll be handy when I next think about remodelling the house. I won’t need a sledgehammer, I’ll just kick my way through the walls!

Thanks for the congrats, April. It’s a bit early for the programming schedule for Codex yet. Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to put something on here the moment I know … and then I’ll probably remind everyone once every 5 minutes after that!

  5. Hello, Evan. Nice to see you visiting here. I hope you’ll drop me a line and let me know what you think of Imperial Spy when you’ve finished it. I always like to get feedback from readers. You’re very fortunate to be going to Blackwood. It appears a good school with a very keen librarian. :-)

  7. Why not? I know I only had a day to judge, but I do go to a lot of schools. I’ve certainly seen a lot worse than Blackwood.
