Cosford Airshow

Thanks to all those who came to see me on my stand at the Cosford Airshow - especially those who bought books!  We had a great day, with well over 200 books sold on the day and another batch of new readers brought safely into the fold.  It was wonderful to see faces that faithfully come back year after year to see whether I’m back again bearing new titles - makes me wonder where they do their shopping for books that they cannot seem to find my titles anywhere else, but that’s a subject for another day.

I was delighted to have Ian Whates along with me this year, selling copies of the wonderful little book, Time Pieces, which has been long-listed for another award - the coveted British Fantasy Society best anthology.  If you haven’t got a copy yet and intend to get hold of one, then I suggest you do so very quickly, or be prepared for a hike in prices once the print run has sold out. (Well over half have been sold now.) I get the feeling that this will rapidly become a collector’s item. As Time Pieces contains the only Science Fiction story I’ve written since I left school (!) then collectors of my work should not be without a copy.

Cosford has long been one of my favourite venues - more so now, because it has a certain nostalgia element and the added bonus of giving an opportunity to catch up with random people from my RAF past. It did seem a little strange not to be there in a flying suit, but I’ve got used to the idea of being a civilian now, so the experience was not too disturbing. I look forward to going again next year, hopefully with copies of ‘Dragon Oracle’ displayed proudly on the stand.

  2. Thanks for the message - it’s good to hear from you again Clinton. I’m hoping for a nice big surge of orders come September, so it’s great to know that someone will spearhead the charge!

  3. Ah yes,
    I saw you that day!
I had only read the Imperial series at that point though.
My Dad works at Cosford, and he has read Imperial Spy, and his friend said you were going to be there, but Dad couldn’t remember where he knew the name from!
And then I was walking through Hangar 3 (I think it was hangar 3 anyway) and saw you and I was really shocked!
I ran and told Dad (who was on duty) that you were there and asked why I had not been told. I got quite angry!
But in the end, I got my books!
    Cheers Mark!
